THURSDAYS IN OCTOBER: DECONSTRUCTING HOLLYWOOD'S EPICS
We've all seen them: Set in the past, these movies are big, bold, colorful, action-filled, and so "Hollywood". They make actors heroes. We all love them and watch the same ones over and over. Sometimes we think they are history.
Dr. Manuel Sterling, Plymouth's history guru, is back at Pease Public Library each Thursday in October at 4PM to help us understand our nation addiction to Hollywood epic movies. From "The Robe" to "El Cid" to "Robin Hood", Dr. Sterling takes us back to the literary roots of the genre, as we take them apart to understand their magic.
Be sure to reserve your seat in this free series by calling 536-2616. A full house is expected. This program is sponsored by the Young Ladies Library Association.
WAR & REMEMBRANCE: LOOKING BACK AT WW II
A groundswell of recently published books focusing on WW II have rekindled conversation and awareness of this epoch period. Please check the Calendar of Events page for all scheduled events at Pease.
We will have a complete listing of events throughout the Lakes Region by mid September. Made possible by the NH Humanities Council, Meredith Village Savings Bank, Laconia Savings Bank, Lakes Region Spirit Magazine and Inns & Spa @ Mills Falls Marketplace.
Other Lakes Region Reads events you won't want to miss:
